A Sophisticated System That Fits A Lavish Home
Located in the prime suburb of Petaling Jaya, the 625-acre gated Tropicana Golf & Country Resort is home to thousands of residents who enjoy the convenience and comfort of resort facilities within the eyeshot. Commended as a fully self-contained life-and-leisure community, the landed houses of the residents at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort are equipped with facilities as one would find at resorts. And the most typical and necessary amenity is non-other than a swimming pool.
Forget having to squeeze with a crowd while dipping in the pool, forget needing to queue up for a vacant shower room or washroom, and definitely none of the need to be aware of your surroundings while practising your backstrokes so that you would not accidentally hit someone on the head. The residents have the luxury of enjoying a private swim right in their backyard any time of the day, week or month!
Nonetheless, such tremendous convenience comes with a price. And in the case of a swimming pool within your gates – the maintenance. Just as any public pool management oversees the maintenance of its pool, homeowners with a pool in their yard need to take care of their pool just as much, from cleanliness (clean water, sufficient circulation, proper filtration, etc.), safety (water chemical balance, water pH, etc.) to comfort (water temperature, etc.).

As part of a pool renovation work, Mrs Koon approached Waterco with the requirements to have a heated pool with water temperature and water quality that are gentle to the skin. These are essentially basic requirements of a pool with a heating function – A quality pool simply cannot be over-chlorinated to the extent of harming its swimmer, nor can it be scorching or freezing. For these two requests, Waterco’s Electroheat MKV Pool Heat Pump and Hydrochlor Mineral Chlorinator fitted the bill flawlessly.
Mrs Koon, however, had another additional and unique request for Waterco:
Typically, the ‘by-product’ of pool heating with a heat pump – cooled air – is released to the surrounding. This keeps Mrs Koon thinking, “is there a way to use this cooled air?”, “all those cooled air just released to the environment, seems a bit wasteful, doesn’t it?” And we couldn’t agree more. After all, people do spend hundreds and thousands just to have air conditioning running all day long, with the purpose of generating… well, cooled air.
And so, Waterco heard and heeded Mrs Koon’s concerns. A simple ducting system was installed to channel the cooled air from the heat pump to the compound of the house, thus, generating a ‘natural’ cooling effect without the need for an air conditioner.
